What this tool does

Test whether the merchandise subtotal reaches a free-delivery threshold and include delivery when it does not.

How to use it

  1. Enter the item price and quantity.
  2. Add base and extra delivery charges.
  3. Enter a free-delivery threshold, or zero if none applies.

Formula and method

Subtotal = item price × quantity. If the subtotal reaches a positive free-delivery threshold, delivery is zero; otherwise base and extra charges are added.

Example

Three items at 18 have a subtotal of 54. With a threshold of 60 and a delivery charge of 5, the order total is 59.

Useful for

  • Comparing shops with different delivery rules
  • Checking how much remains for free delivery
  • Finding the delivered price per item

Limits and notes

The threshold is checked against the item subtotal before delivery. Taxes, coupons, zones, weight bands and subscriptions are not inferred.

Frequently asked questions

What does a zero threshold mean?

It means there is no automatic free-delivery rule.

Can I include a remote-area surcharge?

Yes. Enter it as the extra delivery charge.
