How to use it
- Enter the file size and choose its decimal unit.
- Enter the measured or advertised download speed in Mbps.
- Adjust transfer efficiency and review the estimate.
Formula and method
Effective speed = Mbps × efficiency. Time in seconds = file bits ÷ effective bits per second. Decimal units use 1GB = 1,000MB.
Example
A 10GB file at 100Mbps and 80% efficiency takes about 1,000 seconds, or 16 minutes 40 seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Are MB/s and Mbps the same?
No. One byte is eight bits, so 100Mbps is at most about 12.5MB/s before overhead.
Can I estimate uploads?
Yes. Enter the measured upload Mbps instead of download speed.
