What this tool does
The resizer creates a PNG at new pixel dimensions by fitting the full image or cropping its center to fill the target frame.
How to use it
- Choose an image and confirm the detected width and height.
- Enter target dimensions and select Fit inside or Center crop.
- Resize, review the output dimensions and preview, then download the PNG.
Method
Fit mode preserves the aspect ratio and scales the whole image down so it stays within both limits; it does not enlarge a smaller source. Center crop fills the target ratio by removing equal areas from opposite sides before drawing the exact output size.
Worked example
For a 2400 × 1600 photo and a 1200 × 630 target, Fit keeps the entire photo within the box, while Center crop trims the left and right edges to create exactly 1200 × 630.
Common uses
- Preparing social-preview and blog images
- Creating consistent product or profile thumbnails
- Reducing pixel dimensions before web delivery
Limitations
Center cropping can remove important content near edges. Enlarging or repeated processing cannot add real detail, and the downloaded PNG may be larger than a compressed JPG or WebP. Keep the source file and inspect faces, text, and logos before publishing.
FAQ
What is the difference between Fit and Center crop?
Fit keeps the complete image and may produce a smaller dimension on one axis. Center crop fills both requested dimensions by removing content from the sides or top and bottom.
Why does Fit not enlarge my small image?
It deliberately limits scaling to the original size to avoid creating an apparently larger but blurry copy.
