What this tool does
Review a bounded line comparison for drafts, configuration and code while keeping potentially sensitive text inside the browser.
How to use it
- Paste the earlier text and the revised text.
- Run the line comparison within the documented size limit.
- Review added and removed rows and copy a plain summary.
Formula and method
Line endings are normalized and a longest-common-subsequence matrix aligns unchanged lines. Remaining lines are marked as additions or removals, with a one-million-cell work limit to bound browser memory.
Example
Changing one middle line and adding a final line produces one removed row, two added rows and preserves line numbers for unchanged context.
Useful for
- Comparing document drafts
- Reviewing configuration changes
- Checking copied code snippets privately
Limits and notes
The comparison is line-based, not word-based, and does not detect moved blocks or meaning. Very large inputs are rejected when the line matrix would exceed one million cells.
Frequently asked questions
Are the texts uploaded?
No. Both inputs and the comparison stay in the current browser tab.
Why can a changed line appear twice?
A line replacement is represented as one removal followed by one addition.
